MESSAGE TO PARENTS
Week of April 26, 2020
An update from OHuddle:
This extended school break has been challenging to say the least! We want to continue to encourage you that you are not in this alone!
Throughout the rest of the school year and during the summer, please don't hesitate to contact your Site Coordinator if we can be helpful with questions about school or community resources.
Your child's Site Coordinator and Mentor would love to connect by Zoom or phone. Is there a time that you would welcome a call? Send them an email to schedule a time!
Please don't forget that our screen free activity bags will continue to be distributed at school lunch stops for the next several weeks.
These activity bags include themes such as "reading for pleasure," STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, art, math), and gardening. 800 bags are given out with free school lunches (first come first serve) at 51 stops weekly.
Be sure to note the day of the week in the orange graphic and click the buttons below for more details about the themes each week.
What to expect in future service
As we continue to plan for resuming in-person service with our mentees, our goal is to communicate as clearly as possible with you regarding next steps. Here's what we know so far:
Schools are cancelled for the remainder of the school year.
Summer Leadership Camp and the Golden Circle Field Trips will not take place in June as planned. We will keep you in the loop as we continue to seek solutions for evolving these resources and their timelines.
OHuddle mentorship service will resume in the fall and will accommodate the time that students are in the building (there may be changes to the regular school schedule and OHuddle will incorporate these changes into our new practice).
We will be in touch regarding a re-launch of ministry service as regulations permit resuming large group meetings.
The last day of scheduled mentorship service on our annual calendar is May 15th. We will continue to check in with you and with our students on an intermittent basis through the summer and will forward your correspondence to them. We will keep you abreast of opportunities to connect with mentors that may arise through the next several months. Your Site Coordinators will provide you with additional details in future weeks.
Thank you for your patience as we plan for your future face to face relationships with safety in mind. We will continue to connect with you remotely as these systems develop.
